ARCHITECT PUSHING FORWARD FOR CHANGE AND ECONOMIC REVOLUTION IN MICHIGAN

A variety of local, small business owners gathered at the office of Dominick Tringali Architects in Bloomfield Hills on Thursday March 18, to support Sheriff Michael Bouchard in his candidacy for Governor of Michigan.

Many local business owners are becoming involved in bringing about change to the way Michigan's government is run. Entrepreneurs like Dominick Tringali are seeing an imperative need to make Michigan more attractive and advantageous for small business owners. The philosophy of the state government throughout the past eight years has not been focused on supporting the small business owner. Increased fees and taxes continue to hurt the entrepreneurs who have steadfastly kept their doors open in this difficult economic environment. The current governmental philosophy has been to provide tax incentives to new unproven businesses, like alternative energy and the film industry, while ignoring the small businesses and individuals who pay for these tax incentives and breaks. The lack of fiscal responsibility in our state government has added to the decline of our great State of Michigan. Our business tax punishes existing firms as well and pushes away new businesses that might want to move to Michigan.

Tringali believes that the State promoting new housing efforts and construction projects is a very effective way to create more jobs rather than losing our population to other states. Homeowners in Pennsylvania and New York, for example, are receiving state tax breaks to build new energy efficient homes. Contrary to the current belief in Lansing as well as Washington DC, the trickle down theory does work. For example, with the right incentives, ONE large custom home project begins and literally hundreds of people are put to work; including architects, builders, interior designers, electricians, plumbers, cabinet installers, HVAC contractors, painters, landscapers, inspectors, lighting specialists, technology specialists, window installers, roofers, gutter installers, masons, foundation contractors, as well as the assistants and administrative staff that support these contractors. Lumberyards profit, building material distributors profit, appliance stores profit, construction cleanup crews are put to work, local restaurants near job sites gain new business, and many other businesses receive trickle down work from the onset of each project. This is a concept that governmental entities, Federal and State, do not understand. Local business owners know that Sheriff Bouchard understands the needs of the small business entrepreneur, as well as, the needs of the construction industry in the State of Michigan.

Throughout the next year, many local businesses including Dominick Tringali Architects will continue to support Sheriff Bouchard's campaign as his platform addresses and promotes all of these issues and focuses in on the right methods for turning our state around.
